South Dakota senior Teivaskie Lewin became the third Coyote to advance to the NCAA Championships by winning his heat of the 110 hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminaries on Saturday at Rock Chalk Park.
Lewin captured his 110-meter hurdle heat in 13.68 seconds to post the fifth-best time in the field. Lewin will compete in the 110 hurdles semifinal at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Hayward Field. He will compete for a spot in the finals which are scheduled for 6:12 p.m. Friday, June 10.
Lewin joins senior Emily Grove and junior Emily Brigham as qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
South Dakota State’s Jazzelena Black qualified for next month’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships by turning in a fourth-place finish in the women’s triple jump during competition Saturday at the NCAA Division I West Preliminary at Rock Chalk Park.
A senior from Oxnard, California, Black posted a mark of 43 feet, 0.5 inches en route to her fourth-place finish among 48 competitors.
