Coyotes, Jackrabbit Earn Summit Nods

A pair of USD Coyotes and an SDSU Jackrabbit have earned honors from the Summit League this week.

South Dakota junior Tommy Vining has been named the Summit League Golfer of the Month for September as announced by the league Monday.

Vining, hailing from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, competed in two events for the Coyotes and set a new program record for a low round. At the season-opening Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman, Washington, Vining tallied a second round 64 propelling him to a runner-up finish in the field of 68 players. For the tournament, he tallied an 11-under-par to help the Coyotes to a fourth place finish.

South Dakota libero Anne Rasmussen has been named the Summit League volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

South Dakota State’s Nicole Hatcher was named the Summit League’s women’s soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week Monday, picking up the award after recorded six points to help the Jackrabbits go undefeated last week.
