The South Dakota women’s basketball team won its sixth-straight game and set a new USD single game scoring record during its 115-51 win over the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) on Thursday night in the DakotaDome.

Seven Coyotes (8-2) recorded double-digit point totals as Jaylah Jackson led the effort with a career-high 20 points. Raeshel Contreras came up one assist short of a double-double, finishing with 19 points, nine assists and six steals. Two players were one rebound shy of a double-double as Kate Liveringhouse had 14 points and nine rebounds and Heidi Hoff added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Bridget Arens tallied a career-high 17 points, Tia Hemiller had 12 points and Nicole Seekamp added 10 points.

USD broke the previous scoring record of 113 set against Minnesota-Morris on Dec. 12, 2000. The Coyotes also tied the program field goal record of 46 and were one assist shy of tying the program assist record of 35.

Kelsey Switzer led the Spires (2-9) with 18 points. The game did not count toward Saint Mary’s record.

USD outscored Saint Mary 61-11 in bench points and 60-12 in the paint. The Coyotes shot 58.6 percent (46-of-81) from the floor while Saint Mary shot 27 percent (17-of-63).
