– South Dakota pole vaulters Emily Grove and Bethany Firsick and high jumper Megan Glisar will compete at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships starting on Sunday in Albuquerque, N.M. The meet determines who will represent Team USA at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, next month.
All three qualified for the meet by reaching the qualifying standards set by U.S. Track and Field after Nov. 15 of last year. The standard for the pole vault was 14 feet, 1¼ inches while the standard for the high jump was 5-11½.
Grove currently ranks second in Division I with a pole vault mark of 14-4 while Firsick is tied for eighth at 14-1¾. Megan Glisar ranks third in Division I in the high jump with 6-0¾ mark.
USD will also be represented by graduate assistant coach Kenna Wolter, who will compete in the triple jump at the championships. Wolter, who has a season-best mark of 41-8¾, finished fifth at the meet last year.
All four will compete on Sunday with Wolter competing at 11:45 a.m., Grove and Firsick competing at 1 p.m. and Glisar competing at 2 p.m.
