South Dakota junior Kelsey Barrett has been named the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the period ended April 26, as released by the league office on Tuesday.

 

Barrett picks up her first career Athlete of the Week honor after capturing the 10,000-meter title at the Drake Relays. The Britton, S.D., native dropped more than three minutes off her personal best when she clocked 34 minutes, 54.45 seconds. Her time ranks second in the Summit League this season and second in all-time school history.

 

Barrett and the Coyotes compete at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Friday and Saturday.
