South Dakota senior Kyle McKelvey earned his second career Summit League Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor for the period ended Feb. 8, as released by the league office on Tuesday.

This is McKelvey’s second selection for the award this season. He set a new DakotaDome and school record with his throw of 60 feet, 5.25 inches in the shot put. The toss ranks at the top of the Summit League and 34th in the nation this season. The Beresford, S.D., native also set a new personal-best in the weight throw (56-10) for a runner-up finish in that event at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet.

McKelvey is a part of a group of throwers that will throw at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, this weekend. The rest of the Coyotes will compete at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings, S.D.
