South Dakota senior Kyle McKelvey has been named the Summit League Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the period ended Jan. 18.

 

McKelvey receives his first career Athlete of the Week honor after leading the South Dakota men at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The Beresford, S.D., native tossed a new career best of 59-5.75 in the indoor shot put. The throw tops the Summit League by two feet and is tied for 22nd in Division I.

 

McKelvey and the Coyotes return to action Saturday Jan. 24 at South Dakota State’s Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational in Brookings, S.D.
