South Dakota guard Raeshel Contreras was named the Summit League’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.
It’s the second time this season and in her career that she has received the honor.
The senior from San Francisco, Calif., led the Coyotes to an 86-81 win over North Dakota on Sunday with a career-high 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting. She added four steals and three assists in that win. Contreras also scored 19 points, tallied nine assists and grabbed six rebounds in USD’s 115-51 win over the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) last Thursday.
Over the course of the week, Contreras averaged 24 points, six rebounds, five steals and 3.5 rebounds per game. She was 16-of-31 shooting (52 percent) from the field, 8-for-16 from 3-point range and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. She also had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.4.
South Dakota will travel to San Antonio to play Texas-San Antonio on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
