Emily Grove recorded the second-best pole vault mark in Division I this season on Saturday as the South Dakota track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Iowa State Classic.

Grove won the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet, 4 inches while teammate Bethany Firsick cleared 14-0 for second-place.  USD’s Madison Mills finished fifth while competing unattached with a mark of 12-8¼. Grove’s height is second only to Kaitlin Petrillose of Texas, who vaulted 14-7¼ at the New Mexico Classic on Feb. 7. Firsick’s season-best height of 14-1¾ currently is tied for eighth in Division I.
