South Dakota freshman Sammie Villwock has been named the Summit League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the period ended Sept. 6, as released by the league office Tuesday.
Villwock garners her first career player of the week award after scoring her first collegiate hat trick in South Dakota’s 4-3 win over Green Bay on Sunday.
Villwock played a part in all four of South Dakota’s goals on Sunday, adding an assist to junior Corey Strang’s goal in the 28th minute. Villwock’s first two scores increased the Coyotes lead to 3-1. After the Phoenix put two into the net later in the second half, the freshman scored the golden goal in the second minute of overtime.
Villwock’s three goals are tied for second-most in the Summit League this season. She also ranks third in total points with seven.
The Coyotes travel to Edinburg, Texas, to play Texas Rio Grande Valley at 7 p.m. Friday.
