South Dakota junior guard Casey Kasperbauer made seven three-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points in leading the Coyotes to an 84-60 win against Milwaukee Sunday inside the DakotaDome.
It was the third straight win for South Dakota (6-8), which begins Summit League play Friday at home against Omaha.
Kasperbauer made seven triples for the second time this season. He was 6 of 6 from downtown in the second half. When the barrage ended, South Dakota had extended a 33-23 halftime lead to 71-49 with five minutes to go.
Coyote big man James Hunter added 13 second-half points, included two one-hand jams, and finished with a career-best 15. He also had five rebounds in 16 minutes of work.
Matt Tiby had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Milwaukee (5-9), an NCAA Tournament team after winning the Horizon League Tournament a season ago. Akeem Springs had 11 points and five boards off the bench. Senior guard Steve McWhorter, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder entering the contest, had seven points – all in the second half – and no rebounds.
