South Dakota libero Anne Rasmussen has been named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced Monday.

It is the first such honor for Rasmussen, a sophomore from Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Her defensive efforts earned Rasmussen a match-high 33 digs against North Dakota State which puts her tied for 10th in the program for digs in a single match. Against Western Illinois, Rasmussen recorded another match-high for the Coyotes with 26 digs. The libero is currently second in the Summit League for digs per set with 4.96.

Rasmussen helped the Coyotes to a 1-1 record this past weekend as South Dakota opened up Summit League action. The Coyotes take the court again at 6 p.m. Friday against Fort Wayne.
