Recent South Dakota graduate Brenna Lervick earned a spot in the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships on August 7-13 after qualifying through the sectional held at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, Minnesota.

The Chanhassen, Minnesota, native shot a 1-over-par 73 to place in a tie for third place. She birdied two holes while earning par on another 14 holes in the one-day qualifying tournament. With a six-way tie for the final two qualifying spots, Lervick made quick work in the playoff, converting a birdie on the first hole to earn her trip to the prestigious event.

Lervick, a three-time All-Summit League selection, is set to play at the San Diego Country Club in San Diego, California, with two rounds of stroke play to begin action August 7-8. The low 64 scores from the first two rounds qualify for match play with a round of 64 on August 9 and break down to a championship on August 13 of 36 holes.

At South Dakota, Lervick won four events including two during her senior campaign. The first victory of that season was at the Missouri State Pane Stewart Memorial after she fired a three-round 216. She also won the Creighton Classic with a two-round score of 146.
