University of South Dakota second baseman Sydney Hancock has been named the Summit League Player of the Week for the period ended March 27.

It is the first such honor for Hancock, a junior from Wahoo, Neb. 

Hancock was 7-for-10 at the plate with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs in leading the Coyotes to a series win against Fort Wayne Friday and Saturday in Indiana. She was 4-for-4 in game one with a double, three-run homer and scored three runs in a 10-1 victory. She added a two-run home run in her first at bat of game two for her fifth consecutive hit. She also drove in two runs in a 10-6 win in Saturday’s rubber match. Hancock slugged 1.400 in the series and had a .750 on-base percentage. 

South Dakota next competes in a doubleheader against Wisconsin starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Madison, Wis.
