South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit has announced the additions of Russ Rose and Kayla Tetschlag to her staff as assistant coaches for the 2016-17 season.
Rose comes to South Dakota after spending the past two seasons on Plitzuweit’s staff at Northern Kentucky. Rose brings seven years of coaching experience from the high school, AAU and collegiate levels.
Rose was an assistant at his alma mater, Davenport University, prior to joining Plitzuweit’s staff. His coaching stops include Central Michigan University, Michigan Basketball Club (AAU), and Hopkins High School. Rose also spent a season as Central Michigan’s video coordinator, breaking down film and developing scouting reports for the team.
Tetschlag joins the Coyote staff after having spent the past season as the top assistant at the University of Sioux Falls. Prior to that, she spent four years abroad playing professional basketball in Europe. Tetschlag, who graduated from Green Bay, was the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2011.
In her first season on staff at Sioux Falls, the Cougars won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
