South Dakota softball player Yvon Minogue (Corona, Calif.) has been named The Summit League Female Athlete of the Month for May/June. It is the second such honor for Minogue and first this season.
Minogue hit .545 (12-for-22) in six games in May with 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .630. During that span, she became the Summit League’s career leader for hits with 271, earned first-team all-Summit League honors for the third time, and was named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team after bashing six home runs in three tournament games. She set a tournament record with three homers and six RBI in a single game against South Dakota State in Fargo, N.D., on May 11.
Minogue won her second consecutive league batting title by finishing the 2016 season with a .438 average. She also led the Summit in on-base (.495) and slugging percentage (.773). Following the season, Minogue was named to the Mexican National Team and will compete in both the Women’s World Cup and the ISF Women’s World Championships in July.
