Court Rulings to Impact New EPA Regulations

A US Supreme Court ruling could have an impact on new regulations coming from the Environmental Protection Agency. The court ruled in connection with regulations on mercury and other gases coming from power plants.
South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says the decision broke some new ground.

Nelson says utilities and regulators are waiting for another set of rules on carbon dioxide later this summer.

Nelson says it is difficult for utilities to adjust to new sweeping rules from the EPA without some protections.

South Dakota utilities depend heavily on coal fired power plants that could be affected by the EPA ruling on carbon dioxide.
