The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has given the Environmental Protection Agency 90 days to decide whether to allow the use of Chlorpyrifos or Lorsban. South Dakota Soybean Growers Association President Jeff Thompson says Lorsban is an important tool for producers in controlling insects.

He says Lorsban has gone through extensive testing and has been proven to be a safe and effective pesticide.

Thompson says its important whatever decision EPA and the Court makes that they follow sound science.

Chlorpyrifos is used on more than 50 crops in the United States.
