There may be more progress this year in rebuilding sections of Highway 12 in northeast Nebraska. The Corps of Engineers has released a supplemental draft environmental impact statement for the Niobrara East and West project in Knox County.

Becky Latka, project manager for the Corps in Omaha, says they want to hear from anyone interested in the project and possible impacts…

Latka says the project has a direct impact on the Missouri River and Lewis & Clark Lake…

Latka says a possible decision could come this spring….

The highway has been raised several times to keep it out of the lake. A plan to move the highway south to the face of the river bluff was rejected in 2015.
