The Corps of Engineers is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for Nebraska Highway 12 in the Niobrara area. That road has been flooded a number of times due to rising levels of Lewis & Clark Lake.
Becky Latka with the Corps in Omaha says they are working with the Nebraska Department of Transportation on a rebuilding plan…

Latka says they want to hear what the public thinks about the reconstruction plan..

A plan to move the road south against the bluff was opposed in the last round of public hearings.
Latka says they hope to have a final draft of their plan out by mid fall….

Latka says the reconstruction plan would keep the highway in its current location between Santee and Niobrara.
