Corn Palace Bid Accepted

The Mitchell City Council has awarded the bid for Phase One of the Next Generation Corn Palace project to Mueller Lumber. The Mitchell contractor submitted the low base bid last week at $3.95-million dollars. Following committee recommendations to subtract three alternate bids, the council approved a bid of $3.62-million dollars.

Seven vertical axis wind turbines, exterior tile on the west and south facades, and felt wall finish on the second level were removed to give the project a ten-percent cushion. Dailey says the items may be added later…

 

Work could start as soon as next week with completion targeted for early April of next year. The Corn Palace will remain open during the project with access to visitors provided through the south doors on East Sixth Avenue.
