A National Corn Grower’s Association Analysis shows cash corn prices have declined by 16 percent on average as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. Several regions have seen declines of more than 20 percent since March 1. National Corn Grower’s Association President and Iowa grower Kevin Ross says those figures are disturbing.
South Dakota Corn Grower’s Association President Doug Noem says the analysis just adds to all the negative challenges growers have been facing with the depressed ag economy along with the pandemic problems.
Noem says besides all the market and COVID 19 challenges, with ethanol plants floundering, the capture of carbon dioxide has also been affected.
Ross says the most important thing policy makers can do is get the U .S. economy rolling again in the wake of the coronavirus.
Ross says the NCGA will use the studies data to create solutions to help corn farmers and their customers recover.
