Last week, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said he was confident the USMCA trade agreement could rise above the toxic political climate. That was after House Democrats decided to proceed with impeachment efforts against the President. Minnesota Corn Grower’s Association President BriaN Thalmann says Congress needs to get past its political squabbling and ratify the USMCA.

He says having a positive trade pact with both Canada and Mexico is critical for not only Minnesota’s corn growers but for all of U.S agriculture and the overall economy.

Thalmann says all three countries in the USMCA need certainty in place so trade can continue flowing freely across their borders.

Lighthizer indicated last week he thinks the USMCA will pass, mainly because it’s good for the people of the United States.
