One top state legislative priority for the South Dakota Corn Grower’s this session is funding for the state’s infrastructure repair and upkeep. Association President Keith Alverson says his group’s members are committed to paying their share of that upkeep but want a fair funding system approved.
Alverson says whatever fuel tax is approved for infrastructure upkeep needs to take into account fuel used for the roads and that used for the fields.
Alverson says the most critical need is for legislators to come up with funding for counties and townships.Alverson says the other two issues his group is monitoring is watershed and drainage management and property taxes.
