The South Dakota Legislature completed the main run of its 2021 session last week and it was a positive one for the state’s corn growers. South Dakota Corn Grower’s Association President Scott Stahl says they were pleased to see the funding given to the Ag Bio Processing facility at SDSU.

He says what’s also positive is the move to produce ethanol in South Dakota for aircraft.

Stahl says his group is also pleased the state lawmakers made no major changes to how property taxes are determined.

Stahl says corn growers took a neutral position on the merger of the State Agriculture Department with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources so they’re waiting to see how that all works out now that the merger has been upheld.
