Great Britain’s exit from the European Union may open the door for British farmers to grow biotech crops. British officials are drawing up plans to allow biotech crops in the future. South Dakota Corn Growers President Keith Alverson who serves on the National Corn Grower’s Board of Directors says that’s very encouraging and will help farmer globally who want to utilize biotechnology.

The British government’s general view remains that policy and regulation of biotechnology should be science based. Alverson says that’s also very positive.

Alverson says there are so many benefits for producers to grow biotech crops.

Britain’s move to biotechnology is vastly different from the stance long advocated by the European Union.
