In the next few weeks President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto. Trade, immigration, security, and energy are among the topics up for discussion. South Dakota Corn Grower’s Association President Troy Knecht hopes they have a reasonable discussion with stable results for both countries.
He says Mexico is a very important market for U.S. corn growers and all of American agriculture.,as is Canada.
Knecht says both Presidents need to approach the talks with sincerity and optimism and not get caught up in a bunch of rhetoric.
The last time the two Presidents were scheduled to meet was January of last year but that meeting was cancelled by President Nieto after a dispute erupted on twitter about Trump wanting Mexico to pay for a border wall.
