Corn Growers File Comment On EPA Supplemental Proposed Rule Calling For Changes

Close to 2,000 National Corn Growers Association members have filed comments with the Environmental Protection Agency on their supplemental proposed Renewable Fuel Standard Rule. NCGA President and Iowa farmer Kevin Ross says growers want to make sure the agency refigures their proposal and makes up for the lost RFS volumes caused by the small refinery waivers.

He says they want the agency to reallocate the lost biofuel volumes by using a three year average rather than basing it on Department of Energy data.

Ross says there’s a lot of corn that hasn’t been blended and usage of that crop is badly needed. He says that’s another reason the RFS needs to be properly followed and its up to the EPA to ensure that it is.

Ross says farmers are once again asking the EPA to uphold the law and the integrity of the RFS.
