Corn Growers Disappointed At Failure To Have Special Session

Minnesota State legislative leaders failed to reach agreement on funding of light rail that may have led to a special session to complete unfinished business from the regular session. That non ag issue stopped any resolution on needed tax relief for agriculture. Minnesota Corn Grower’s Senior Public Policy Director Anna Boroff says her group’s members were very disappointed at the outcome.

She says now it’s up to voters to decide who to blame for the failure. Boroff says her group will start immediately working with lawmakers for a tax relief bill during the next regular session in January.

Boroff says they are back to square one with developing a tax relief measure and will have to work with new legislators.

She says another disappointment was lawmakers failure to pass a transportation bill which could have come up during a special session.
