America’s corn farmers are upset with Anheuser-Busch for their Super Bowl ads stating Bud Light is not made with high fructose corn syrup like other brands. The ads immediately triggered response from the National Corn Growers Association on twitter, showing video of corn farmers dumping out cans of Bud Light. NCGA Chairman Kevin Skunes says they were shocked by the ads.
He says they were meeting with Anheuser-Busch officials this week to find out the motive behind the attacks on corn syrup and the ag industry, especially in light of the tough economic times.
Skunes says for years they’ve been trying to combat the notion that high fructose corn syrup is unhealthy and so this is a setback.
Bud Light isn’t the first food product that has dropped corn syrup as an ingredient and used it as a marketing ploy.
