Export of U.S. corn and corn products generated nearly $75 billion in annual output in 2014. That’s according to Informa Economics analysis commissioned by the National Corn Growers Association and U.S. Grains Council. Iowa Corn Grower’s President Bob Hemesath says the study shows the corn industry is a major driver in the U.S. economy.
He says the Informa report, which also linked exports to the creation of more than 371,000 jobs, couldn’t come at a better time with pending trade agreements before the U.S. Congress.
Hemesath says the analysis reinforces the importance of ag exports and trade deals in general.
According to the Informa Economics analysis, the export of corn and corn products also increased the U.S. gross domestic product by close to $30 billion.
