This week the South Dakota Railroad Board agreed to terms with Dakota Southern Railway on a 10 year lease to restore regular service on part of the state owned line between Napa and Platte. South Dakota Corn Grower’s Executive Director Lisa Richardson says that’s positive for the state’s corn growers and agriculture in general.
She says good reliable rail service is important for the state’s corn industry and this agreement will help with that.
Richardson says rail service is important for the ethanol markets as for economic development.
Richardson says it’s been a very good harvest season for corn growers and there’s been no major backlogs with rail service or accessibility.
