Nebraska Department of Agriculture Director Steve Wellman has issued an order easing restrictions on pesticide applicators whose licenses are up for renewal. The NDA order allows the applicator whose license expires April 15 of this year to defer the required training for license renewals until April 15, of2021. Nebraska Corn Grower’s Association and Corn Board Executive Director Kelly Brunkhorst says the extension order makes sense given the impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic.

He says there is no safety concern with this extension as applicators have gone through the required training to be able to apply pesticides.

Brunkhorst says as farmers approach planting season, make sure to be alert and safe and to continue protecting yourself against not only any potential farm accidents but also the coronavirus.

Those applicators wishing to defer their training under the NDA order must notify the State Agriculture Department of their intent to renew their license and also pay the required fees to NDA by May 15, 2020.
