Clay County Fair at Spencer, Iowa is running right now and will continue through Sunday.  On Thursday, the fair acknowledges area farmers by declaring it “Farmer Appreciation Day” at the fair.  It is also known as “Iowa Corn Day” with the commodity organization displaying various exhibits to help educate the fair attendees.  Chris Freland serves as the Iowa Corn Growers Association’s District Field Manager and will oversee the corn activities at the fair.  Freland says the Peterson brothers from Kansas will be on hand at the fair.  She says they change popular song tunes lyrics to make them with an agriculture theme.  Freland says the Iowa Corn Growers will be set up at the fair’s Central Park from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. showcasing various information about corn.  The Iowa Corn Growers staff member says several corn farmers will be on hand to address questions about corn from the fair attendees.
