Spring planting has started but so far, farmers have encountered continued cool conditions with soil temperatures still below the ideal 50 degrees.  South Dakota State Climatologist, Laura Edwards says it may be a while before we have warmer and better growing conditions.

Farmers may be concerned about reduced yields because of the delayed planting and on-going cool temperatures.  However, Edwards believes we may still be within the window before yield loss occurs.
