Consumers Take Farm Tour

Photo: WNAX

Sioux Falls area consumers got to tour an artesian cheese making business, a grain elevator and a Crooks, South Dakota dairy operation as part of the Farms After Five Tour organized by Ag United. One of the participants was Tim Jorgenson of Harrisburg. He says he wanted to go on the tour so he could see how modern and technological agriculture has become….and he wasn’t disappointed.
He says the tour changed his mind about the way animals are cared for and how livestock are produced.
Jorgenson was also pleasantly surprised to find out that 98-percent of farms in South Dakota are family owned and operated.
He was also pleased to learn that research shows there are no long term health implications associated with biotech crops for people or livestock.
