Consumers should not believe everything they read or see on the internet about the evils of biotech crops. SDSU Plant Science Department Head David Wright shared that message with Sioux Falls area consumers participating in a recent Ag United tour of beef and dairy operations.
Wright says the use of biotech crops tends to be an emotional issue for consumers, but it shouldn’t be with years of sound science to back the safety.
He says biotech crops directly benefit consumers as they are one of the tools that will help stabilize food production for a growing future population. It also helps farmers to protect the environment.
