Five conservation groups including Bold Nebraska have expanded their legal challenge of the federal approval of the Keystone XL oil pipeline. Bold member and Nebraska farmer Art Tanderup says the groups are challenging the Corp’s failure to ensure that endangered species would not be harmed by the project. He says since the debate began, they’ve had many environmental concerns with the pipeline.

He says there are also groundwater and soil concerns with Keystone XL.

Tanderup says besides this latest court case, Bold Nebraska continues to battle against the pipeline.

The latest court filing expands on the federal lawsuit filed by the same groups in July which challenged the Corps’ approval of the pipeline to be built through hundreds of rivers, streams and wetlands. They also say the Corps’ failed to follow evaluation requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act and the Clean Water Act.
