Congressmen Asking USDA To Help The Dairy Industry

Several members of Congress led by Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy have written Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack asking him to see what USDA can do to help struggling dairy farmers. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says his group has also spoken with Congress and the Ag Department about the problem.

He says the problem won’t be solved overnight.

Galen says there is little Congress can do to assist the dairy industry during this election season and with members out on recess until after Labor Day.

Galen says the European Union is also working to help out their own struggling dairy industry.
