A Nebraska Congressman in the middle of the tax reform process believes it will spark economic growth.
Congressman Adrian Smith sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, which has released its 1-point-5(T)Trillion dollar tax reform proposal.
Smith says the proposal would change how businesses can deduct expenses
The proposal cuts the corporate tax rate from 35-to-20 percent.
On the individual side, the proposal shrinks the number of tax brackets and nearly doubles the standard deduction paid by most middle class families. It also eliminates some deductions, such as for medical expenses as well as tax and local taxes.
