Congressman Adrian Smith has been named chair of the Human Resources Subcommittee on the House Ways and Means Committee. Smith says he hopes to take a fresh approach to the anti-poverty, welfare, and social services programs it presides over. . .

Smith has served six years on the Ways and Means Committee, one of the most powerful committees in Congress.
