Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is pushing Health Savings Accounts as a solution to rising health insurance costs.

He says future generations can start saving money in an H-S-A while they are young and healthy.

Fortenberry says some type of catastrophic health insurance coverage would be needed as a safety net.

The H-S-A idea was one topic of discussion at a health insurance and Affordable Care Act forum Fortenberry held (Wed) in Lincoln.

Nebraskans also need to be more of a consumer when it comes to their healthcare.

Matthew Leonard with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska says a shift is happening towards seeking out the better deal.

Leonard says prices vary due to individual contracts that insurance companies have with providers and customers.
