Members of Congress continue work on a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill this week. House Speaker Paul Ryan released the text Monday night which puts the budget on schedule for a final passage vote Thursday. Details have not been publically released yet, but Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson says for agriculture they’re trying to use the bill to address the EPA’s ‘Waters of the U.S.’ rule.
Peterson says a repeal of COOL and biotech labeling are also moving with the budget deal.
And he says a deal on extending expired tax provisions is still linked to the omnibus. Last week Congress passed a continuing resolution that extends government funding to Wednesday.
Meanwhile the National Farmers Union Board of Directors has adopted a resolution opposing any changes to the Farm Bill through the omnibus.
