Members of Congress want more time to decide on legislation that would transfer control of internet domain names to an international organization.
Currently, IANA, or the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority is housed in the US Commerce Department.

South Dakota Senator John Thune, who chairs the committee with oversight of the Commerce Department, says the bill was pulled from the continuing resolution…..

Thune says moving control of the internet out of the Commerce Department has been a goal for some time….

Thune says they need to work through a number of issues before allowing the change…..

The transfer was supposed to take place on October first.
