Some changes in livestock permit policy by the Yankton County Commission has raised concerns about the future of livestock production.
The commission will now require Class “F” livestock operations to ask for a conditional use permit.
Commission Chairman Dan Klimisch says there is a place for confined animal feeding operations in the county..
Klimisch says more cooperation and coordination will be needed to locate livestock operations…
Permits for livestock operations were a major issue in last November’s county commission elections.
