Concordia snapped Morningside’s 39-game home winning streak with an 80-72 win in the title game of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Postseason Basketball Tournament.

The GPAC title tilt not only featured  the top two seeds in the GPAC Tournament, but two of the top three teams in the NAIA according to the latest poll. The top-ranked Mustangs were responsible for the third-ranked Bulldogs only two losses this season coming into the game.

Concordia was able to get the win despite being out-rebounded by the Mustangs 45-28. The game featured six ties and two lead changes. The Bulldogs took the lead for good with 12:32 remaining in the second half. Morningside got within three with 2:37 left in the game, but the Bulldogs finished the game on a 9-4 run and held Morningside without a field goal in the final 4:47 to secure the victory.

Both teams have now secured automatic berths in the 2015 NAIA Women’s Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, which runs March 11-17 at the Tyson Events Center, Morningside as the GPAC regular season champion and Concordia as the tournament champion.
