Nebraska is losing one Fortune 500 employer. ConAgra announced they are moving their headquarters out of Omaha to Chicago in the summer of 2016. There are roughly 2,500 employees at the company headquarters in downtown Omaha. They plan to retain about 1,200 of those mostly management positions and 300 positions will relocate. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert says about one-thousand employees will be out of a job but there is a lot of opportunity in Omaha……
There have been rumblings of the move for weeks and Stothert spoke with ConAgra’s CEO Sean Connolly on Wednesday and asked him directly what could be done to prevent them from relocating…..
This will not impact workers at plants in Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
