ConAgra Foods has joined McDonalds, General Mills and Campbell Soup Company in setting a target date of 2025 for buying eggs only from cage free hen operations.  HSUS Ag Director Joe Maxwell is hailing the decision and says it will have a significant impact on animal welfare across the country.

Maxwell says ConAgra’s move will impact an immense number of laying hens.

He says this is also a trend that will change animal production methods.

Unilever and Nestle are also shifting to cage free by 2020.
