The new Comprehensive Review of Iowa’s dairy industry shows how important that industry is to the state’s and regional economies. Northwest Iowa Extension Dairy Specialist Fred Hall says this report which is done every five years has just been released for 2020. He says Iowa’s dairy industry supports over 15,000 jobs with the economic impact from each cow reaching just over $25,000.

He says the spin off benefits from all dairy products significantly contribute to each community’s economy.

He says prospects for Iowa’s dairy producers are bright according to the report in that exports of all dairy products are expected to continue to grow.

Hall says their report shows increases in profitability for dairy products and that dairy revenue is expected to continue to rise at 1.15 percent to close to $40 billion.
