Competitive Race in District 19

One of the more competitive legislative races this week was the contest for the state House in District 19. Republican incumbent Kent Peterson of Salem finished first with thirty five percent of the vote, while Jessica Bahmuller of Alexandria and Marty Overweg of New Holland finished just twenty-one votes apart.

There are no democrats on the ballot in November, but Peterson says he still wants to get out and hear from voters…

The race for the second slot is close enough to qualify for a recount.
